This is undertaken in a Hydrostatic coreholder (triaxial) and pressurising the samples upto 10000 psig overburden pressure.

The hydrostatic confining pressure is increased gradually in small steps initially to determine the sleeve closing pressure.

This is important, as pore volume compressibility should be calculated from true sample pore volume reductions, not introduced void volumes.
